Greek soprano Maria Taxidou was born in Kazakhstan & began her musical journey there. She later moved with her family to Greece where she continued her academic endeavors in music. She earned a degree in musicology from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece & studied classical singing at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki. She continued her education with a master's degree from the University of Music & Performing Arts in Stuttgart, Germany. During her studies, she performed in roles such as Contessa Almaviva in Mozart's "Le Nozze di Figaro'' & Micaela in Bizet's "Carmen." She graduated after performing the roles of Olympia, Antonia, & Giulietta in Offenbach's "Les Contes d'Hoffmann ''. After graduating, she made her debut as Despina in Mozart's opera 'Cosi Fan Tutte' at the Daegu Opera House in South Korea. She is an active concert-oratorio singer in Greece & Germany, & has worked with various orchestras, including the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra, Südwestdeutsches Kammerorchester Pforzheim, Daegu International Opera Orchestra, Stiftsphilharmonie Stuttgart, & Stuttgart University Symphony Orchestra. She won an award at the Greek National Vocal Competition in Thessaloniki & received a scholarship from the Friends of the State University of Music & Performing Arts in Stuttgart. She recorded a CD titled "Rejoice" with vocal music composed by Kay Johannsen with the Solistenensemble Stimmkunst for Carus Verlag. She participated in the video & CD production, "Hellas 2021", performing songs by Debussy, Lourie, Kasassoglou & Ravel.
